Location - Lake Thunderbird, a private association for the enjoyment of property owners and their guests, is only 2 hrs. southwest of Chicago, 40 min. north of Peoria, 90 minutes east of the Quad Cities and just 10 min. from Interstate 80.  The perfect place to visit for a peaceful weekend or to live a lifetime.

Natural Beauty - With topography formed by ancient glacers and flowing waters, the beautiful wooded hills and lovely valley that is Lake Thuderbird will remind you of the hills of Wisconsin.  The lake is about 2.5 miles long and has about 8.5 miles of shoreline with 135 acres of water.

Outstanding Fishing - Because of an aggressive stocking program, Lake Thunderbird is considered to be one of the best fishing lakes in the country.  The deep, clear, clean, spring-fed lake annually yields catches of 8-9 lb. large mouth bass as well as musky, hybrid stripers, white bass, catfish, bluegills, northern pike and walleye.  There are even bullheads for the night fishermen.  The cleanliness of the lake makes the fish tasty and good to eat.

Boating - Motorboats are allowed up to 19 ft. in length and 100 HP and waterskiing is enjoyed by many.  Pontoon boats can be up to 26.5 ft. and 40 HP.  Boat ramps are available at several locations and there is a dock near the clubhouse.

Swimming - You can enjoy the white sandy beach or the in-ground pool at the clubhouse.

Building Requirements - You can buy now and build later because there are no time restrictions on when (or if) you must build on your property.  You can build your home yourself or select the builder of your choice.  The minimum home size is 600 sq.ft. for the main floor and homes of every design are built at Lake Thunderbird.

Living at the Lake - This is the perfect location for either full time living or a weekend get-away.  The Lake is close to shopping, hospitals and other services.  There's a school bus to take the kids to school and police and fire stations are nearby.

Camping - Lake Thunderbird has a campground just for property owners and their guests.  Clean showers and dressing rooms are available and each campsite has a electric hook-up.  There is a nominal charge for camping just to offset expenses.  There is also a storage area for boats and campers available to all property owners.

Utilities Available - Every lot has a water line from the central water system - no expense of drilling or maintaining a well when you build.  There is a charge per year for water availability but there are no meters.  Telephone and electric services are already installed at the lot line.

Property for Sale - There are many wooded building sites still available for sale so you can build the home of your dreams.  There are also existing homes for sale in a wide range of styles and prices - Call CENTURY 21 Covered Bridge Realty for the latest information!  We are here to serve your every Real Estate need.
